How many tap installations do I need?

Accepted Answer

Rule of thumb: one tap per 250 visitors. A mobile tap serves ~150 L of pre-cooled keg beer per hour, or ~500 L over 8 h non-pre-cooled. Our planners will calculate for you.

Which beers can I serve with a Belgotap installation?

All Belgian pils (Jupiler, Stella, Maes, Cristal), specialty beers and foreign brands. You supply the kegs via your brewery.

Which keg couplers exist and which do I need?

Accepted Answer

We stock all common types (A/Sankey, S, M, G, KeyKeg). Sankey for most pils and strong beers, Alumasc for Maes/Hoegaarden Rosé, KeyKeg for cocktails on tap. List your brands on the quote and we'll provide the right couplers.

Ice-bath or glycol taps?

Both. Classic ice-bath taps (water + ice bank) and dry Python glycol systems for large events or fixed bars. We advise per event.

Do you also supply the drinks?

No. Belgotap specialises in equipment rental. Drinks are purchased or rented directly from your brewery.

Yes: counters, mobile bars, glass-door fridges, crate fridges, serving tables, sinks, glassware and bar accessories.

What power supply do I need?

Accepted Answer

A standard tap requires one free 230V/16A socket. A typical circuit handles ~3500 W (2 taps/sinks). Don't overload one circuit. Larger units may need 380V — listed on the product page.

How do I connect a mobile tap correctly?

1) Fill the water cooler just above the coil — no water on the electrics. 2) Plug in at least 6 h ahead (preferably the day before). 3) Level the unit. 4) Connect the high-pressure hose to the CO₂ bottle. 5) Check CO₂ pressure before opening the ball valve. 6) Connect the keg coupler (you'll hear a click). 7) Check ball valves are open. 8) Check available power. In doubt, call 016/20.20.70.

Should I pre-cool my kegs?

Not strictly required but strongly recommended. Pre-cooled kegs (24 h ahead) let the tap reach full capacity without foaming. Never place kegs or drinks in direct sun.

How long until drinks are cold in a fridge?

Crate fridge (chest): ~24 h to be cold throughout. Ventilated glass-door cooler: ~6 h. Depends on ambient temperature.

What do I need for a sink?

Water supply: a standard garden hose with Gardena fitting. Drain: free runoff (grate, gutter or bucket).

I'm getting too much foam — what to do?

Common causes: 1) Beer too warm — keep at 6–8 °C. 2) Missing or thin ice bank (≥4 cm, not touching coil). 3) Stirrer not running or cooler empty. 4) Wrong CO₂ pressure. 5) Dirty lines, tap or coupler. 6) Pouring too fast — let it flow along the glass wall. 7) Greasy or poorly rinsed glasses. 8) Air in the beer line (leak). At what temperature should I serve pils?

Ideally 4 to 6 °C. Specialty beers (tripel, trappist) are served warmer (6–10 °C) to bring out the aromas.

How do I pour the perfect beer?

Hold the glass at ~45°, open the tap fully, let beer flow along the wall. Straighten when half full and build a ~2 cm foam head. Skim with a scraper.

Average 3 to 4 glasses per person for a 4-hour evening event. For a 2-hour reception, 2 to 3 glasses suffice.

1.5 glasses per guest is a good rule. With a sink, fewer; without, plan 2 to 3. Glasses are rented per crate.

Do I need to rinse glasses during the event?

For long events or large volumes, a sink is essential. For short receptions, plan more glasses and return everything at once.

Why doesn't the foam head hold?

Accepted Answer

Usually due to greasy or poorly rinsed glasses (fingerprints, detergent residue, lipstick). Rinse with cold water and a foam-friendly product, never towel-dry just before pouring.
